The primary business of the company is seed-grown varieties of bedding plants, plants for window and patio planters, perennials, pot plants and cutflowers.
Among the company's best-known specialties are the famous tuberous and fibrous begonias which the company started to breed as far back as the 19th century.
The Benary product range is comprised of some 2000 items, including 190 F1 hybrids in 15 different genera and species.

The seed production is accomplished at the company's own production sites in Germany, European foreign countries, as well as being done by contract growers for Ernst Benary Samenzucht GmbH in nearly all European countries, in North and South America, and East Asia.
