Stage I (14-21 days)
| Plug Culture: | |
Stage II (7-14 days): During Stage II, maintain temperatures of 18-22°C. Maintain moist media levels. Begin fertilization at 50-75 mg N/l with a calcium/potassium nitrate fertilizer. Maintain pH levels of 5.5-5.8 and EC levels <0.75. Stage III (7-14 days): Gradually reduce temperatures to 15-18 °C. Allow media to fluctuate between moist and medium after irrigation cycles. Increase fertilization levels to 100-150 mg N/l
with a calcium/potassium nitrate fertilizer. Maintain pH levels of 5.5-6.0 and EC levels < 1.0. Campanula is extremely sensitive to high EC levels. Maintain short day conditions to keep 'Alpine Breeze' vegetative. To insure adequate plant development and delay premature bud
initiation, provide short days. Stage IV (7 days): Maintain temperatures to 15-18 °C. Apply a calcium/potassium nitrate
fertilizer at 100-150 ppm. Maintain pH levels of 5.5-5.8 and EC levels of <1.0.
| Growing On: | |
Transplant plugs after 8-10 weeks. Maintain temperatures of 16-18 °C for 2-3 weeks until the root system begins to develop. After this time, decrease temperatures to 14-16 °C. Fertilize at
100-150 mg N/l. Maintain pH levels of 5.5-6.0 and EC levels of <1.0 Excessive salt buildups can cause root damage. Long days (14-16 hours) are required for flower initiation. Provide extended days or night interruption treatments. Maintain long day conditions throughout growing to
promote more flowers and better overall appearance. Preventive treatment with Epsom salts (0,025%) reduces risk of Mg-deficiency.
| Media: | |
pH: Maintain media pH of 5.5-5.8, EC: <0.5
| Photoperiod / Light: | |
The 'Alpine Breeze' series does not require additional light to germinate.
| Temperature: | |
Maintain temperatures of 18-22°C.
| Cultural Hints: | |
Additional supplemental lighting for plant quality is beneficial, but not essential for growth.

* Germination Stages (from seed to finished young plant)
| Stage I: | Starts with the radicle breaking through the testa. The roots are touching the medium. Ends with fully developed cotyledons. |
| Stage II: | Starts from fully developed cotyledons. Ends with the fully developed true leaf or true leaf pair. |
| Stage III: | Starts from the fully developed true leaf or true leaf pair and ends with 80% of the young plants being marketable. |
| Stage IV: | All young plants are ready for sale and in the process of being hardened off. This stage lasts about 7 days. |
Hint
The cultural recommendations are based on results from trials conducted under Central European conditions. Different conditions in other parts of the world may lead to deviations in results achieved.
