TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Life Cycle:  Perennial
Familiy, Origin:  Crassulaceae, Mexico
Sitelocation:  Full sun
Garden Height:  20 cm
  7,87 inch
Crop Time:  Plug crop: 8-10 weeks; Green pots: little plants 7 months and large plants 18-20 months; Flowering pots: little plants 14-16 months and large plants 24-30 months
Sell Period:  August-October and March-June
Seed Form:  Raw Seed
Seed Count:  25000 K/g
Sowing Time:  February - April
Sowing Method:  1 seed per plug
Germination:  10-18 days at 20-22 °C, in media with low soluble salt levels and pH: 6.5-7.5. Requires light for germination. Do not cover seed. Keep soil slightly moist but not wet. Avoid direct sunlight by shading seeds after sowing.
Plug Culture:  From Stage II* reduce the soil moisture, but the plug should not dry out. Do not let soluble salt level rise above 0,5 EC. Start fertilization at 50 ppm nitrogen in a well balanced formula. During Stage III and Stage IV fertilization levels can be increased to 100-150 ppm.
Growing On:  6-8 weeks after sowing transplant 1 plant per plug tray (4x4 cm) and 4 months later transplant 1 plant into a pack or pot (6-8 cm) and for production of large plants, 12-14 months later into a bigger pot (9-13 cm). The growth is very slow.
Media:  Use a well-drained, growing substrate with 10-30 % clay, 0-15 % parts (perlite or sand), 1,5-3 kg/m³ complete balanced fertilizer, 0-2 kg/m³ slow release fertilizer (9-12 months), iron-chelate, micronutrients, pH: 6.5-7.5.
Photoperiod / Light:  Long day plants. For the flower initiation and development long day (12-14 h) and high light intensity for 20-30 days are required. After 80 days under long day treatment Echeveria is in flower. Without intense supplemental lighting in winter Echeveria will not flower, that's why in winter cultivate is possible only with assimilation light.
Temperature:  Grow at 18-25 °C during daytime and 15-18 °C during night. Cooler temperatures in the night are better for the foliage pigmentation. In winter indoors at 15-18 °C. Temperatures below 15 °C will result in leaf deformation. Echeveria does not tolerate frost.
Fertilization:  Moderate fertilization levels are required. Fertilize the crop weekly with 100 -150 ppm nitrogen, using alternate a calcium nitrate fertilizer and a potassium balanced fertilizer (N: K2O-ratio: 1:1,5). In the beginning of the growth period fertilize the main portion of nitrate and later in August the potassium. Avoid high ammonium and high nitrogen levels. Don't fertilize after mid September. In spring fertilize with 100-150 ppm nitrogen of a potassium balanced fertilizer.
Cultural Hints:  Echeveria prefers hot and dry conditions. During the growth period Echeveria needs a relative high amount of water and in winter Echeveria needs a dry substrate. Avoid over head irrigation, because wet leaf rosettes rot rapidly.

Hint
The cultural recommendations are based on results from trials conducted under Central European conditions. Different conditions in other parts of the world may lead to deviations in results achieved.
