Traditionally a classical heat-loving plant for southern regions or an indoor plant, Pentas 'Northern Lights'TM is on the move – up north!
In cultivation trials run in Michigan, USA, in summer temperatures resembling those of Central Europe, Pentas 'Northern LightsTM Lavender' proved once again that when planted out it tolerates cooler outdoor temperatures than any previous pentas genetics.
Whereas classical pentas varieties experience a growth check soon after being exposed to low temperatures, 'Northern LightsTM Lavender' still develops into a well-established fine-looking plant. To avoid delayed flowering, raise 'Northern LightsTM Lavender' just like any other pentas.
'Northern LightsTM Lavender' is also more tolerant of a lower pH. Whereas pH values less than 6.5 may cause leaf damage in other pentas varieties, new genetics enable 'Northern LightsTM Lavender' to still go strong, making this pentas an easy and reliable high-quality crop that growers appreciate.
Of a vigorous habit, 'Northern LightsTM Lavender' is ideal for use in larger containers or for bedding. Just like hydrangea flower heads, the great balls of starry lavender flowers open gradually, providing summer-long brilliance rather than just a brief episode of delight.
