"The Four Oaks Show and Flowers are ideal opportunities to expand the market for Benary specialties," Benary's Area Sales Managers say, reflecting on Benary's success at these two major international floriculture trade shows.
The star among the new introductions at the "Four Oaks Show" in Macclesfield/UK, from September 5-6, 2006, was the new bronze leaf 'Nonstop® Mocca' series. The stunning color effect and attractive leaf of this exceptional begonia attracted a lot of interest at the Benary booth, at the booths of major plug producers and at the presentation of new introductions for this year's "Horticulture Week Award". Having the same habit and growing requirements, 'Nonstop® Mocca' and the green leaf partner series 'Nonstop'® can be produced together. "An advantage more and more british growers are discovering for themselves, leveraging it to expand their product range without incurring any extra costs," says Pim Westerman, Area Sales Manager for the UK, summing up his conversations with british growers.
Along with the large-flowered tuberous begonias, the new vegetative begonia hybrid 'Jolly'® was a very popular topic of conversation among visitors. In high demand as a plug, 'Jolly'® is captivating more and more british growers with its short crop time and continuous, abundant production of flowers.
Benary's spring classics pansy 'Fancy' and pansy 'Cats'® have been very profitable, and their UK market share has increased significantly over the past year. Also rising fast in popularity are Benary's heat tolerant landscape specialties, the celosia 'Fresh Look' series with its new AAS medal winner and fourth color 'Fresh Look Gold', and the Fleuroselect and AAS winner Rudbeckia 'Prairie Sun'.
Just before Benary participated in the "Four Oaks Show", the company had its own booth at Flowers 2006 in Moscow from August 31 to September 3, 2006.
Along with the impressive basket performances of 'Big Time'®, the new petunia series of nine colors, and the cascading begonia 'Illumination'®, Benary's heat tolerant Pentas 'Graffiti'® was a visitors' favorite. The new colors of this great bloomer, Red Lace, Rose and Lavender, were awarded the "Gold Medal" in the international New Introductions Competition at the Moscow show for their exceptional colors, great performances and bushy habits. Out of 600 participating floriculture companies from 27 countries and different divisions, Benary was one of the big winners.
Along with specialists for hot and dry locations, such as pentas and rudbeckias, Benary's FastraX perennials were the talk at this year's "Flowers". Lobelia 'Fan'® and the large-flowered Campanula series 'Pearl', on display with 'Pearl Blue', 'Pearl White' and the new color 'Pearl Light Blue', received an overwhelming response. The most important advantages of these annualized perennials include fast and straightforward cultivation and a great diversity of colors and shapes. Vladimir Mostizki, Area Sales Manager for Russia, confirms: "With production costs and requirements being very low, the easy-to-grow FastraX perennials in particular hold enormous cost advantages for this emerging market. FastraX perennials adapt excellently to the current production conditions in Russia, offering a profitable start into the perennials business."
Mostizki was highly satisfied with the large number of visitors both to the booth and to the seminar held by Benary, entitled "Cultural Information About Benary New Introductions", which attracted an audience more than double the size originally expected.
